EM 280 - Social Aspects of Disasters

Description
Explores the sociology of disasters, disparate impacts of disasters, and application of social vulnerability approach in emergency management. Students examine the needs of diverse groups including the elderly, disabled, women, racial and ethnic groups, the poor and other segments of the community. The course also explores ways of expanding participation of diverse groups in disaster planning and policy.

Prerequisite: EM 101  and EM 201
